Spiritual functions of our Pastoral Staff

The Pastor:

The Pastor is the spiritual head and visionary of the local body. He is responsible to hear from God and supervise the implementation of whatever God leads him to do with the advice and consent of his corps of officers to consist of the Assistant Pastor, Elders and a representative from the Deacons.

The Pastor is also clothed with the authority to make decisions in the absence of the mentioned corps of officers as situation dictates in the interest of the ministry. The Pastor also serves as the Chief Administrative Officer and spoke person of the church.

The Assistant Pastor

The Assistant Pastor will assist the Pastor at all times in carrying out the day to day running of the church. He/She will help in developing and supervising ministries that the Pastor will recommend to his/her office.

The Elders

The Elders will assist the Pastorate in carrying out the duties of the church. They are considered part of the cord group decision makers in the day to day running of the church.

The office of administrator shall be occupied by one of the elders and he/she shall work very closely with the Pastor.

The Deacon Ministry:

The Philadelphia Ministry considers the office of a deacon as an office of service. It is not seen as a board but a ministry. The word ministry clearly explains Paul's definition of a deacon (Philippians 1:1; I Timothy 3:8-13). The deacon is appointted and shall be responsible for the following:

  • physical and material aspect of the church
  • help in formulating fiscal policies and guidelines of the church
  • ensure the preparation of the Lord's supper for communion service
  • shall sit in all church members meetings and other functions of the church
  • performs other duties as approved by the Pastor and the Leadership
